The UArts Jazz Singers perform before a packed house at the 2008 ISME World Conference in Bologna.
The UArts Jazz Singers is one of the "showcase ensembles" at The University of the Arts, comprising some of the finest student vocalists and rhythm section performers in the School of Music. The ensemble strives to perform the highest level of vocal jazz literature, incorporating both classic and contemporary vocal ensemble repertoire. The group also draws influence from popular styles, including pop, funk, R&B, and Gospel.
The ensemble maintains a very active concert schedule, performing for School of Music concerts, university events, and functions in the greater Philadelphia area. The ensemble has received feature performances at several state MENC conventions and numerous jazz festivals, including the Berks Jazz Festival and the Ohio Jazz Summit. The ensemble's highest-profile showcase to date was a standing room-only, feature performance in Bologna's Academia Filharmonica at the 2008 ISME World Conference in Bologna, Italy.
The Jazz Singers performance schedule can be found on Justin's "Schedule" link to the left, and at the UArts website. You'll also find a clip of the Jazz Singers there as well. More clips and video will be posted soon - enjoy this recording of the ensemble performing the Beatles' "Eleanor Rigby"!
